Installation

I have just installed CATIA Student Version on Windows Vista, but it won't work? What is wrong?

CATIA is not supported on the new Windows VISTA platform and will not function correctly. CATIA Student functions properly on Windows XP or Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 4 insatlled) Operating Systems.

When I installed CATIA Student Version on my system, I had not yet received a license key. Now, when I attempt to start the application I receive notice that I must import a license. How do I accomplish this?

  1. Shut down the CATIA Student Version application and all associated windows.
  2. Using your Windows Explorer, navigate to X:\Dassault Systemes\B10\intel_a\code\bin [where "X:\" is the destination directory you installed CATIA Student Version in].
  3. Run the application called "CATNodelockMgt.exe".
  4. Click the File menu and select Import from the list of available options.
  5. Locate the license file you received via email (this file has a ".lic" file extension).
  6. Select the file and click Ok.

I've tried performing the above steps, but the NodeLock License Management application doesn't recognize my license file. What should I do?

If you received your license file via an HTML based mail service (such as Hotmail, MSN Mail, Yahoo Mail), it is possible that the service has added a text document file extension to your license file attachment. For example, a license key originally named "3E0437F0_5691CS1_5.9.LIC" may become "3E0437F0_5691CS1_5.9.LIC.txt". To address this issue:

  1. Right-click on the actual license file, and select "Properties".
  2. Verify that the file is a ".LIC File" (on the General tab, under the Type of file).
  3. If the file type is listed as Text Document please forward the license file to catiastudent@engineering.com for a corrected file**.

(You may also attempt to correct the file extension by removing the .txt extension. The process for this can vary from system to system based on the user's preference settings. It is recommended you return the file to catiastudent@engineering.com for correction.)

I've tried using the NodeLock License Management application, but I can't find my actual .LIC file. What should I do?

  1. Using your default email application, located the email that you received with the subject line: "IBM Software License Key for Customer Number 649645144".
  2. Save the attached .LIC file to your Desktop.
  3. Use the Nodelock License Management Application to import the file. When required by the application, navigate to your Desktop to find the .LIC file.

I've tried performing the above steps, but the license file I have does not match the target ID that CATIA Student Version is looking for. How can I fix this?

  • Make note of the new target ID number.
  • Complete and submit the License Request form. Include the old (if known) and new (required) target ID numbers.
