TARGET ID TROUBLE SHOOTING

a) Do you have a network card?
Yes: proceed to step b).
No: You must have a correctly installed network card to install CATIA Student Version. Please install a network card prior to installation.
b) Do you have more than one network card installed? (If you are using a laptop, have a integrated Ethernet card, and are using a docking station, you may have more than one network card.)
Yes: Proceed to i4Target Section.
No: Proceed to step c).
c) Is the network card working properly?

Use the following steps to determine if Windows believes that your network interface is installed and working properly. If the card is working properly, proceed to the i4Target Section.
If the device is NOT installed or the message you receive is that the device is "disabled", you MUST reinstall the device using the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) instructions.

YOU MAY NOT INSTALL AND OPERATE CATIA STUDENT VERSION WITHOUT A VALID NETWORK CARD.

Instructions for determining your network card status

1. Go to your desktop.
2. Right-click on My Computer.
3. Select Properties.
4. Click the Hardware tab.
5. Click the Device Manager button.
6. Expand the Network Adapters item.
7. Right-click on your network card.
8. Click Properties.
9. Take careful note of the message within the Device Status area. It should state that "the device is functioning properly".

I4Target Section

If you are not having problems with your network card, but still have difficulty getting the target ID, follow these instructions:

1. Download the following application: i4target.exe. (Save this application to "c:\")
2. Download the following application: i4tgtid.exe. (Save this application to "c:\")
3. Open a command line prompt (click Start, Run, and then type cmd).
4. Navigate to c:\ and type i4target -z (this will list all of the possible targets to identify). The list of IDs will be displayed. See image below for an example:

The topmost item in the list presented will be the most likely target to identify (89A9515D-FB65-4688-BA7B-8B2D7F2885CB in this particular case).

5. Type i4target -d [target] (where [target] is the topmost item in the list, as described above.
6. Type i4tgtid.
7. If this still produces an error, repeat steps 5 and 6, using subsequent targets in the list.
